PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY THE PICTURES! ———————————– MODERN ARTWORK JOAN MIRO Original Watercolor Drawing A Truely Fantastic Piece Attributed to Joan Miro, Spanish Catalan painter, sculptor, and ceramist. His word has been interpreted as “Surrealism,” a sandbox for the subconscious mind, a re-creation of the childlike, and a manifestation of Catalan pride. In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onwards, Miro expressed contempt for conventional painting methods as a way of supporting bourgeoise society, and famously declared an “assassination of painting” in favor of upsetting the visual elements of established painting. ABOUT THIS PIECE Our consignor purchased the inventory of a small art gallery that closed a few years ago. This piece was in a group of about 200 that had been sitting in a secure climate controlled storage building for quite some time. No paperwork on this piece was found except that it had a price tag on the back of it. We don’t know when it was placed on the piece but the tag originally had $36,000 but later was marked down 25% to $24,000. We had a local collector offer us several thousands dollars for the piece a few months ago which our consignor turned down. We feel it’s a valuable piece but we’re going to let the market decide it’s “true value.” IN REGARDS TO VALUE.. The rarity and importance of this beautiful piece can’t be overstated. We know of NO other versions of this colorful piece. We must emphasize, due to the fact that this was an unknown and to our knowledge never listed in the catalog raisonne, instead residing in our consignor’s collection, it has never received the attention you would expect of his known works. It’s possible that this piece is destined for an important collection or museum and one day recognized as the historic masterpiece that it is. This piece could command MILLIONS of dollars with a completed provenance tracing it back to Miro. However since we have not researched it further, this attributed piece that is being sold in the manner of the great artist Joan Miro, is being offered quite reasonably. We are certainly not qualified to make judgements in regards to value, we had an experienced Art Appraiser give us a conservative value of what they believe this would be currently priced “as is” at a typical local gallery. This well respected Certified Appraiser has a PHD in Art History and over 30 years of experience with American and European Artwork. We are including the appraisal document with this lot. We also received a COA from the appraiser due to the quality. The COA states that “in my professional opinion as a Certified Appraiser” that the piece is authentic. REGARDING THE ART’S VALUE… The appraiser of this piece has a PHD in Art History and is a Certified Appraiser with over 30 years of experience in American And European artwork. The title will be transferred into the winners name. All documents will go to the winning bidder. Please note that we do not have any provenance paperwork on this piece as it came from a private collection. The quality of the piece is stunning, you would be hard pressed to find a similar Museum quality piece at a typically gallery, even if you were lucky enough to find it be prepared to pay the appraised values given and probably more. The difference between what we are offering and the major Art Auction Houses is we don’t have a complete provenance, With a complete provenance this piece could be worth many times the appraised value but maybe you’re a better researcher than us or have more time. Since we don’t have time to research the history we are selling in the manner of with paperwork from a well-qualified appraiser.
