The lucky winner of this auction will receive a genuine (made by the US Mint) 2008 American Eagle Platinum Uncirculated (”burnished”) Four-Coin Set. This set contains a 1oz-$100, a 1/2oz-$50, a 1/4oz-$25, and a 1/10oz-$10 coin. Unlike the bullion coins these beautiful pure platinum coins all bear the “W” (West Point) mintmark and have the same beautiful reverse design as the 2008 proofs. According to MintNewsBlog this set contains the rarest Platinum Eagle ever made (the 1/2oz with a mintage of 2,253)! That makes the 1/2oz coin in this set the scarcest American Eagle product ever made by the US Mint! Only 1,283 of these 4-coin sets were sold! “Burnished” Platinum Eagles were only made for 3 years (2006,2007 & 2008) and have been discontinued by the US Mint. These coins come with all the original US Mint packaging(outer cardboard box, inner display box, and COA). I am the original owner of these coins. They have never been submitted for grading and the capsules have never been opened. The coins are in the same pristine condition as when I got them from the Mint. Pictures are of the actual coins and packaging the winner will receive. The individual coins are shown front and back beginning with the 1oz and ending with the 1/10oz. I cannot see any problems with any of these coins. Although I can’t guarantee MS70’s, these coins have as good a chance as any if the winner chooses to submit them for grading.
